MSGM PRE FALL 2020 - ILLUSTRATION FOR #DRAWADOT

Illustration created for the latest Draw-A-Dot open call. A look from MSGM's 2020 Pre Fall season. It was inspired by CLAMP's Card Captor Sakura and all the magic elements are actually Gio Ponti designed items - tapestry, lamps, chandeliers, etc...  It was fun!

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER SS20 - ILLUSTRATION for #DRAWADOT

So, here's the final version of the illustration! The decision to focus on the jewelry of the look came to match the professional moment I'm living right know, with my own pieces and stuff... But it was hard to give up on manga style and on the character design vibes, so, that's it!! It was fun!

ANREALAGE @ JAPAN HOUSE SP

One month ago it was the opening of Anrealage's exhibition here in Sao Paulo, at our Japan House!

I was invited to go with one of my best friends, but she got sick and couldn't attend the event in the end. =(   It was a great night, so it would have been great if she was there! Yet, I'm really thanful, because I had a chance not only to meet new and great people, but to reconnect with a friend from Architecture School days.

Some magic reactions from the pieces when we used the camera flashes!

With friends!

How crazy it is to have your own doodle on a Anrealage's piece?

Yeah, keeping my eyes open for a pic is always drama. hahahaha

And now we have a Kushi at Anrealage official website as well! =P
Thank you, Okushi-san! For your kindness that night and always!

Morinaga-sannnnn!

FASHION WEEK MARATHON: TASK 4

Things are busy right now, so I'm just taking a moment to share how my Men in Brands - Fashion Marathon is going: right here we have task 4, from Paris Fashion Week. My pick up was Chanel SS19, because Karl Lagerfeld surely knows how to rock up the classics! The collection has a beach vacations feeling, but also has a feeling of "took mom/grandma's clothes and they are a size up from mine".... Hahahaha, who've never?

PLANETA ILUSTRAÇÃO - I

**English version coming soon**

INSTAGRAM

Today I'm gonna talk about some instagram changes in my account and the reasons I decided to do so! Also, I'm going over that list of saved items! Because I know I'm not the only one who keep saving things and forgeting to go back to them later on, hahaha!

FASHION ILLUSTRATION CLASSES - I

It's been two weeks since I started with the Fashion Illustration post graduation course. And tomorrow I'll also start the Jewellery Collection course.

So far we've been through human figure and some references researches...

Trying to find a mid point between the realistic style and the manga style is not easy. And I can't say the professor loves manga. But yeah... I'm surviving and learning a lot, or so I want to believe, hahahaha.

"You can find great references at Vogue and Elle magazines." - Yup, it's quite obvious, isn't it? Maybe way too much obvious for my liking... So I decided to go a little outside the box and take some references I knew the other students would not take to the classroom =P

Some scans from japanese Seventeen magazine.

Bridal editorial, from YES WEDDING magazine.

Camila Klein's jewellery collection.

Gekkan EXILE's editorial with Takanori Iwata

Again, Takanori Iwata, but this cool poses are from his first photobook.

And Yuzuru. Obviously. You saw it coming, didn't you?
Now, really, his movements are very elegant - that's why he's here again.

Not only Yuzu though. Kaitlyn Weaver, Yuna Kim, Carolina Kostner, Karen Chen, Kaetlyn Osmond and Maia Shibutani too. Because Figure Skating is elegant. Period.

Later on, I'm going to make a post just about my production and its evolution, but for now, here you have an illustration of the canadian figure skater Gabrielle Daleman. It's the 3rd illustration since the classes have started:
Gabby herself gave my post a like, so you can imagine how over the Moon I became when I saw the notification!

So far so good it seems!

Calvin Klein F/W 2017

Today I'm doing just a quick post to talk about my illustration for Draw A Dot's Calvin Klein F/W 2017 open call.

The F/W 2017 was the Raf Simons debut with CK... “What will Raf do?” has been the refrain since he signed on the dotted line last August. The house of Calvin has its own codes: primarily American minimalism and a provocative sort of sensuality.

The collection is full of Americanisms: including brightly colored band uniforms, Wall Street suits, sheriff’s jackets, quilting on some terrific parkas and metal-tipped cowboy boots.

They devoted a fair bit of attention to the great American plastic couch cover, slipping transparent plastic over everything from plaid tailoring to a sensational yellow-gold fur coat and feathered cocktail numbers.

Strange. But it’s such a weird idea, it just may catch on. Calvinisms got their attention, too. Male and female models wore varsity sweaters with sheer torsos in a technical knit that looked lifted from the world of shapewear, a tricky look for both genders. Brooke Shields’s famous silhouette was stamped on the leather label on the back waistband of jeans.

This last look was the one I decided to pick up to create my illustration. It has bold colors and is the kind of look you can't not notice it's from USA. Very American, very CK.

Some points I wanted to express: the perspective - the model is confiant and at the top; and the music. Yes, the music. The scenography and the music of a fashion show can tell a lot about the mood of the fashion designer, things that maybe we wouldn't be able to notice just watching the models walking by wearing the looks - the song for this runway was: This Is Not America, by Pat Metheny Group (David Bowie's), which is also the theme song of the movie The Falcon And The Snowman. So, all the writing in the illustration are parts of the song lyrics, because after watching the runway is impossible not to get the song stuck in your head. Which is annoying, but still good! ♥

And before I'm called crazy by anyone, here's the show. Try not to sing sha la la la la...

So, every open call, from all the submited illustrations, 9 are picked up as highlights and shared on Draw A Dot's Instagram account. And, as I said before here, I had one of my illustrations posted there once, by it didn't reach the top 9. Yet, it was to great that I couldn't even remember about the top 9. lol

That's why I wasn't expecting at all when I was tagged not only by Draw A Dot, buy also by Marcus Kan (who owns not only Draw a dot but also Toronto Designers Market)! Think about someone over the moon. Yup, that was me!  ♥

And I thought it was over. But last week I found out there was an article in Draw A Dot about this illustration: "I really like the perspective of this piece. The girl looks amazing in that outfit and I really like the words as they add a pop art vibe to the piece! Overall, I am liking this illustration a lot and I am still wondering if she is actually inside a building or out at a construction site. Thoughts?"

(Yes. Merry Xmas, Rapha. lol)

These days...

Almost one month after the last post - I had actually some good ideas of what I could post here, but needed a break of social networks environment.

It was impossible to get that famous internet detox though, because I work from home and need to be online to communicate with my work team.

Since there were many things happening at the same time in the offline world as well, that's why I went MIA. Sorry about all the unanswered messages! Specially on messenger and whatsapp - c'mon, guys, you know I HATE WHATSAPP.

But now we're back to business! It's impossible to stop during the second half of the year!

And now I'm gonna talk about what I've been into.

DRAW-A-DOT

Yes. I've been gone for a good couple of months.
I'm still adjusting myself to this brand new graduated life.

But I'm coming back with great news!

Now I have a fashion illustration featured on @drawadot's instagram!

Really, the happiness here is over the Moon! I've always had wanted to send an illustration to one of Marcus' open calls, but I was always busy with college/ work stuff...

Then, first time sent and BOOOM! Here it is:

There are so many incredible illustrators featured in this account...! It's insane to be part of the team now!

This illustration was inspirated by Comme Des Garçons S/S2015! The last look!
And the postion is an Ina Bauer (from figure skating). Drama, anyone?

July is coming! Miu Miu's illustration too: tons of colors and fun!
